Aloha Sunday Programs At East Hawaii Cultural Center. The East Hawaii Cultural Center presents a special daytime program the second Sunday of every month. “Hula Pele: Kilauea“ - A Hula Seminar. At Hawai’i Volcanoes National Park, join kumu hula Ab Kawainohoikala’i Valencia, of Halau Hula Kalehuaki’eki’eika’iu, to celebrate “Volcano Awareness Month” and learn the hula: “Kilauea,” a hula Pele, written by Alice Namakelua. Experience the cultural celebration of this special place and learn a hula that tells the story of the “...lady of the fire.” Previous hula experience is recommended but not required to attend this hula seminar. Cost per person is $35 for members / $45 for non-members.

Kokua Kailua Hulihee Palace Concert Series & Village Stroll. One Sunday each month from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., Ali`i Drive along scenic Kailua Bay in Kailua- Kona becomes a festive pedestrianonly walkway. Enjoy music, artists, merchants and restaurants. At 4:00 p.m., there is a free Hawaiian music concert on the lawn at Hulihee Palace. Bring your own mat or chair and they will be checked for free while you stroll Ali`i Drive, Kailua Village (Kona). “Nature Drawing in Hawai’i Volcanoes National Park” with painter Ken Charon. 10:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. Witness the creative forces of Kilauea volcano while capturing the landscape and its unique plants in a master piece all your own. Basic drawing techniques and tips covered before walking to a scenic location suitable for sketching. Bring a sketch pad or drawing paper and pencil or purchase supplies for a nominal fee before class begins. Ages 8 and up welcome. Be prepared for unpredictable weather: sunny, wet or windy conditions. Sign up that day on a first-come, first served basis. No preregistration is offered. The Lyman Museum
The nationally accredited and Smithsonian-affiliated Lyman Museum showcases the natural and cultural history of Hawai`i to tell the story of its islands and people.
