Keauhou is a significant ancient settlement where Hawaiians, like today's residents, enjoyed the beauty, abundance and perfect weather conditions of the region. Keauhou literally means “the new era.” Its historic legacy as a truly Hawaiian place where many ancient heiau (temples) were built, remnants of which still exist today.
