For all shows at the Maui Arts & Cultural Center, Kahului, light dinners, desserts and beverages are offered for purchase by some of Maui's finest caterers at the Candlelight Café in the Founders Courtyard and allow for an enchanting evening beginning two hours prior to the start of the shows.

Every Wednesday
Masters of Hawaiian Slack Key Guitar Concert. Host George Kahumoku, Jr. is joined by renowned slack key masters who are true ambassadors of their music, their culture and their land for an evening of traditional Hawaiian songs and authentic talk-story. Tuesday, July 1 - Saturday July 9
"4th of July Makawao Paint-Out Invitational," a Maui Upcountry Event at Viewpoints Gallery! This series of events began on June 29th and continues through July 6, 2008. All are cordially invited to attend any and all of the events that are scheduled for this inspiring challenge. The exhibit will remain open to the public after the last scheduled program through July 9 to conclude the event.

Friday, July 4
Fourth of July in Lahaina. Thanks to the businesses, resorts and community of West Maui, historic Lahaina Town is the place to be for Independence Day celebrations. Admission is free to this family event. A music concert kicks off the evening from 6 – 8 p.m. on the makai library lawn. Fireworks are scheduled to begin at 8 p.m.

Saturday, July 5
Tender Years, Halau I Ka Wekiu. Experience the dynamic, decade-long journey of two kumu hula, known affectionately as KUmZ. Na Kumu Hula Karl Veto Baker and Michael Casupang will share their personal tales and fond memories in celebration of the halau's tenth anniversary. Tickets: $10, $25 & $35. Obon Dance & Festivals. During the summer months, the Obon tradition is celebrated at various island Hongwanji missions. This tradition was brought to Hawai'i by Japanese immigrants and has evolved into a social and cultural event as well as the religious custom it was designed as to honor ancestors through an evening of dance, music and merry-making.  The dates and times for various festivals follow:

Friday, July 11 - Sunday, Aug. 3
Once on This Island. Presented by the Maui Onstage troupe, this highly original and theatrical Caribbean adaptation of the popular fairy tale "The Little Mermaid" tells the story of Ti Moune, the black peasant girl who rescues, nurses and falls in love with Daniel, a mulatto from a wealthy family. The gods who rule the island guide Ti Moune on a quest to test the strength of her love against the powerful forces of prejudice, hatred and death. Thursday, July 17
A Night at the Reef. Celebrating the International Year of the Reef, the Maui Ocean Center will offer visitors the rare opportunity to visit the aquarium after the sun sets. The transition from day to night is a fascinating time as many animals come out of their daytime hiding places and become more active. Pupu (appetizers) and beverages will be available for purchase.
