At Jeff Chang Pottery
Hawaii born business major, Jeff Chang had no idea the ceramics class he took for an “easy grade” in his senior year at an Oregon University would completely captivate him. After a couple years of banking, throwing pots on the side, he gave in to his passion for pottery and left his job at the bank.
For the next 20 years, Jeff and his wife Karon sold his pottery to Liberty House, at craft fairs and from their home studio. Jeff became a wellknown master potter specializing in functional stoneware and decorative Raku. His latest work, Horse Hair Pottery, uses actual horse hair to make patterns of black lines on burnished white pots. Today they feature more than 300 local and mainland artisans at four Oahu locations of Jeff Chang Pottery & Fine Crafts.
